When I immigrated from Holland to America in 1952, both living in the Netherlands and in the United States was a piece of cake.
In Holland after World War II, the Dutch focussed on the shortage of housing and the Government allowed cheap labor from other countries to settle and take jobs, rather than creating a way to control the flow of immigrants.
In the U.S as a "Legal Immigrant" arriving off the boat in New York I, then living in Racine, Wisconsin, whole sections of the city already became populated with Mexican undocumented individuals.
Both countries already lost control by letting people enter the U.S. without some sort of control over 60 years ago and now in 2011 has still not found any solutions.
As a white 17-1/2 years of age my Mother and I as legal immigrants had to attend school a few nights a week to learn English, but today, our U.S.Government soon will provide driving tests in who knows how many different languages on the backs of "Tax Payers" and I can go on and on with hundreds of self destructing concepts in America, while polititions perpetuate their secured income from the Government.
As I wrote about 6 years ago in "Life of a Dutch Immigrant", we kids at 10 years of age after being liberated from the Hitler war machine, we already knew the Soviet Union threat was a reality, but it took the U.S. Government about 40 more years to realize and understand what was coming.
When are politicians waking up to reality about what is going on in the world?
I ask the question?
Is America up to solving difficult questions or will America realize 40 years from now that the great piece of cake we once had is gone for good, by letting it slowly crumble away via "Political Mismanagement", as out of control spending Etc. Etc. Etc.
If my English is not as good as yours, please forgive me, I was a "Legal Immigrant" and maybe not as smart as others.
